Course aims
1. To create opportunities for the implementation and development of subject and pedagogical competences in the school environment through supervised practice.
2. To support the development of the teacher's professional identity in cooperation between school and university.
3. To support the professional development of the student through feedback and self-analysis.
Brief description of the course
Getting acquainted with the practical side of teaching mathematics in basic school. Monitoring and analysing mathematics lessons together with the supervisor and the subject teacher in classes 4–9. Giving mathematics lessons for 5 weeks in one of the classes at a basic school. Organising an out-of-class event in the field of mathematics in the same class.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- in cooperation with the supervisor, plans the learning process on the basis of the national and school curriculum, sets learning objectives based on the learner, selects appropriate learning content and teaching methods and feedback methods, integrating different subjects and subject areas;
- demonstrates the application of subject knowledge in the teaching process, uses correct subject terminology in the learning process, educational technology solutions;
- relates pedagogical knowledge to subject knowledge in the learning process, suggests ways of adapting the learning process to the needs of the learners;
- in cooperation with supervisors, analyses the learning and educational process, reflects on his/her own professional development and, on this basis, plans further activities during the second placement.
