Course aims
The goal of the subject is:
to learn basic methods for preparation and maintenance of data for analysis; learn basic methods of descriptive statistics; to make the acquaintance with statistical hypotheses verification methods; to learn to interpret the results of the statistical analysis; to describe MS Excel possibilities for solving statistics and data analysis problems.
Brief description of the course
Course covers statistics and data analysis key concepts, figures, descriptive statistics, statistical estimation theory, statistical hypothesis testing and confidence intervals, Anova and Regression analysis, some nonparametric methods, MS Excel possibilities for solving statistics and data analysis problems.
Independent work
Independent work includes work with the textbooks and lecture notes, executing homeworks, solving the exercises.
Learning outcomes in the course
After passing this course the student:
knows main notions of statistical and data anlysis methods;
is familiar with the main methods and their applications,
is able to solve the standard exercises.
