Course aims
Facilitate the acquisition of basic knowledge of inorganic chemistry based on the comprehensive school curriculum;
to facilitate the development of creative and critical thinking, problem solving, independence and collaborative skills.
Brief description of the course
History of inorganic chemistry
Classification of inorganic matter and interconnection between structure of substances
Determination of oxidation state
Names and formulas of inorganic matter
Interpretation of equations and drawing conclusions using analogy
Oxides: acidic and basic oxide (formulas, names, chemical properties, impact on bio-systems, relevant representatives and application in practice)
Acids: composition of acids, formulas, names, chemical properties, impact on bio-systems, relevant representatives and application in practice
Bases: composition, formulas, names, chemical properties, impact on bio-systems, relevant representatives and application in practice
Salts: composition, formulas, names, chemical properties, impact on bio-systems, relevant representatives and application in practice
Interpretation and use of inorganic chemical equations in teaching chemistry
Calculation exercises in inorganic chemistry.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- has basic knowledge of inorganic chemistry;
- knows the fundamental principles of inorganic chemistry and the principal properties of more important elements;
- is able to present self-made speciality-related study materials using the e-portfolio.
