Course aims
Aim of which is to give an overview physical condition of Continents (relationship between different components of landscape and relationship between people and nature in different bioms).
Brief description of the course
Natural conditions of the continents (position, relief in connection with geological structure and tectonic processes, climate, water, soil and landscape/natural zones). Relationships between humans and nature in different continents.
In the course of studying the topic, knowledge is acquired about the connections between the processes occurring in nature, as well as the mutual connections between nature and human activity. The topic is important for the formation of a holistic picture of the Earth.
Formation of the geographical worldview of Europeans.
Overview of basic concepts and different theoretical approaches in world economic geography resp. world economic geography resp. world economic geography. Theoretical starting points and trends in world economic geography; global and regional demographic and population geographic trends/patterns, especially considering the global ecological and (geo)political trends of recent years; spatial distribution of resources and economic activity in the world economy; geography of the world economy, especially food and energy issues (fossil versus “green” energy); globalization and regionalization.

Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- has knowledge of general natural laws and processes in different continents and the formation of the world's geographical map;
- is able to apply knowledge about any given region of the world: is able to explain the connections between the components of nature in different regions of the world, including human influence, characterizes and compares geographical objects, regions and phenomena (geographical position, topography, climate, water bodies, soils, vegetation, land use, natural resources, population, settlement, road network and economy) using general geographical and thematic maps and analyses the connections between them;
- can prepare a description of an area using information sources and is familiar with map nomenclature;
- is able to analyze the theoretical foundations of world economic and political geography;
- can define and generalize world economic and political trends in the geographical context of processes.
