Course aims
To provide an overview of the chosen mathematical methods for description of physical fields and acquisition of skills for solving the main types of problems.
Brief description of the course
Ordinary differential equations in physics. The oscillation equations. Mathematics and physics equations and their types. Canonical form of the equations. Differential equations with constant coefficients, heat conduction equation. Mathematical physics task specification correctness. Sturm-Liouville task. Wave motion in a straight, level, space. Harmonic functions. Green's method. Fourier method.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- has ability to apply the Fourier method of separation of variables lainevõrrandi, thermal and difusioonivõrrandi solving one-dimensional case;
- has ability to apply the separation of variables method for solving multi-dimensional case, equations of mathematical physics;
- knows Green's method of understanding the possibilities and conditions;
- has knowledge of mathematics, physics equations rakendavusest, omaväärtusülesande application of findings in quantum mechanics.
