Course aims
To provide an overview of the chosen mathematical methods for description of physical fields and acquisition of skills for solving the main types of problems.
Brief description of the course
Ordinary differential equations in physics. The oscillation equations. Mathematics and physics equations and their types. Canonical form of the equations. Differential equations with constant coefficients, heat conduction equation. Mathematical physics task specification correctness. Wave motion in a straight, level, space. Harmonic functions.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- has ability to apply the Fourier method of separation of variables wave, thermal and diffusion equations solving one-dimensional case;
- has ability to apply the separation of variables method for solving multi-dimensional case, equations of mathematical physics;
- has knowledge of mathematics, physics equations application and findings in quantum mechanics.
-can apply the method of separation of variables in solving a mathematical physics equation in a multidimensional case.
