Course aims
To develop prerequisites for understanding the content and principles of media relations, using contemporary knowledge based approaches to the field, supporting the development of cultural and aesthetic values and the readiness to take them into consideration in future work; to develop practical media relations for understanding different facets.
Brief description of the course
“Media relations” is a course which expands the knowledge of students regarding Estonia’s contemporary media system and its application in public relations as a practical output on a tactical and technical level.
Media relations training will be covered during the course, relying on an analysis of specific incidents. Prerequisites will be created for professional skills as the media relations director or press representative of different organisations
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- understands the general principles of media;
- has skill to analyse the background system of Estonian media;
- has skill to work independently with specialty literature;
- has skill to independently analyse various incidents;
- has competent handling of public relations in terms of the specialty.
