Course aims
Supporting aquiring knowledge about the nature and development of cognitive processes involved in learning. Preparing for planning, analysing and designing learning environments and activities in accord with cognitive processes and their development.
Brief description of the course
Development, learning, maturation. Biological maturation processes in cognition, individual x environment interactions in development, neuroconstructivism. Overview of basic cognitive processes – their nature, functions and distinctions. The role of perception, attention, working memory, long-term memory, thinking and conceptual development in learning.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- is able to describe and notice cognitive process involved in learning;
- is able to analyse the role of cognitive processes in learning;
- is cabable of designing teaching based on the nature and development of cognitive processes
- is aware of possibilities for supporting the development of cognitive processes during the learning process;
- uses correct vocabulary for describing cognitive processes.
