Course aims
Provide an overview of the nature, possibilities, trends, and theoretical foundations of human geography.
Brief description of the course
The course provides an overview of the nature of human geography as a scientific discipline and its practical applications, as well as its connections with other fields of study.
It introduces various subfields of human geography, including economic, population, political, urban, rural, and cultural geography.
The course covers key methods and models used in human geography and its subfields, along with fundamental concepts.
The course consists of lectures that provide a theoretical overview of developments in the discipline and seminars where human geography issues are discussed, and practical research tasks are carried out.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- is able to analyze the theoretical foundations of human geography;
- can perceive and analyze the interaction between humans and the environment, as well as the objectives and position of human geography within the system of scientific disciplines;
- understands the importance of human geography in studying applied (social) issues in society;
- is capable of applying human geography research methods in their studies, research projects, and future professional work.
