Course aims
The course creates preconditions for understanding the theoretical bases of public relations.
Brief description of the course
The different public relations paradigms are covered in the course, relations of communication theories and public relations practice, contact points of sociological approaches with different public relations practices. The course gives an overview of the interdisciplinary character of public relations and helps students to understand the connections and contact points of different disciplines that explain activities of organisations.
Independent work
Writing the final paper.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completion of the course the student:
Is familiar with public relations theories
Can analyse public relations practices from the viewpoint of theoretical approaches;
Knows the interdisciplinary character of corporate communication and public relations and can use it in practical public relations activities.
