Course aims
Compulsory core subject. The course is intended to contribute to the students’ systematic and versatile understanding of specific and main areas of activity of social policy; to the practical prerequisites and skills of analysing them critically; to the awareness of the meaning of social policy areas for students’ own work and to the active participation in the respective public debates.
Brief description of the course
The following main areas of social policy will be analysed: 1) social insurance 2) labour and 3) housing policy; emphasis will be put on 4) social policy in the European cultural sphere and the role of EU in social policy. In addition to the four aforementioned topics, the students can choose a fifth. During the current academic year it’s „Social policy and values it is based on”.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- aims of social policy, welfare models;
- knows social policy and socio-economic objectives of the European Union;
- can interact between social policy and economic policy;
- can formulate of social policy and inclusion of target groups;
- has skills to analyse sectoral policies within social policy in socio-economic context.
