Course aims
To introduce relationship and connection of the language and culture. To develop independent research skills and the skills to analyze texts.
Brief description of the course
Concept of J.Vereštšagin and V.Kostomarov: lexical background and verbal communication. V. Kolessov: philosophy of the Russian word. Lingvocultur: mentality, language picture of the world, intercultural communication. Etnolinguistics.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
The student
- knows the theoretical concepts of the course,
- understands the difference between linguistics and linguistic-cultural science,
- is able to comment on the text (cultural-linguistic analysis),
- is able to interpret the cultural meaning of units of the Russian language and compared to other languages.
