Course aims

To present the peculiarity of system of Russian sounds, develop skills to distinguish sounds, create the necessary prerequisites for comprehension of stress and inflexion specifity of Russian language.

Brief description of the course

Phonetic and orthoepic system of Russian language. Main principles of modern Russian phonetics, norm of pronunciation. Pronunciation means.

Learning outcomes in the course

Upon completing the course the student:
Knowledge of Russian phonetic and orthoepic system;
Ability for independent analysis of Russian sounds;
Ability for transcription of Russian speech;
Correct pronunciation ability.
