Course aims

During the course students get an idea of what editing is and how to edit a journalistic text. Students obtain both theoretical and practical knowledge in editing.

Brief description of the course

Types of editing procedures, the logic of editing, the meaning of a text. The work of an editor from a stylistic perspective; assessment criteria; communicational errors and the ways to correct them. The ethical side of editing. Readers’ interests and the ways to understand them (subject – title - the opening sentence).

Learning outcomes in the course

Upon completing the course the student:
- getz theoretical and practical editing skills.
