Course aims
To teach principles of advertising content value, of understanding its peculiarities.
To support students in distiguishing national, non-national and international elements in advertising language;
To create premises for translation advertising tezts from Estonian to Russian considering all mentioned aspects.
Brief description of the course
Advertising is one of the most important phenomena of the contemporary world. Students get knowledge how to adjust national or international advertising text for their own cultural space;
how to use knowledge of theory and practice of translation to find a correct solution for advertising text translation to get advertising product useful for all three - customer , executor and consumer.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- has skills to value advertising content;
- has skills to distinguish peculiarities of the advertising text;
- understands how to transform these texts for another national audience proceeding from its culture, language and identity.
