Course aims
The aim of the course is to give the students basic structured knowledge of marketing as a central function of a business enterpreneurship. The knowledge of how marketing combines a business and its’ target audience/consumers and is crucial for the business market position and role in the society. The course will also give a basic introduction of using different market instruments and methods.
Brief description of the course
Basic Marketing is a base-level course of marketing that introduces the main marketing principles. The course will cover basic principles of marketing, basic rules and functions of marketing environement and markets, basic introduction of market instruments and market ethics. In addition to theoretical knowledge the students will have the opportunity to test their accumulated knowledge in an interactive electronial market simulation game. In the end of the course the students will present an individually formulated market plan and course project.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- understands the functions of marketing; importance and aims of marketing;
- can assess market campaigns on a general level; can evaluate the relevance of different market instruments in a context of a specific marketing situation and the aims set by the leadership;
- is able to project the said aims into market evaluation means.
