Course aims
Objective of the research seminar-practice is to create possibilities for writing a small-scale but complete independent sociological research paper and the students can practice all stages of a research paper.
Brief description of the course
Research seminar-practice takes place in two parallel parts focusing respectively on quantitative and qualitative research methods. Parallel use of two different methods within the framework of one topic helps to understand the uses and restrictions of both.
The course is carried out in the form of seminars, practical lessons and independent work. Course structure follows and supports the stages of conducting a study: formulation of the research question, collecting material, analysing and presenting the results. As a result of the course, every student submits an individual research paper and presents its results in the form of a poster presentation.
Conduct of the study and the analysis and presentation of results takes place in parallel in quantitative and qualitative parts. The first (research plan) and last (report of the research paper) papers of the course is the mutual part of quantitative and qualitative parts.
