Course aims

The course seeks to develop understanding of the main models and theories in the field of health and to provide knowledge of research skills needed in a practice setting.

Brief description of the course

History of Health Psychology. Research methods. Introduction to theories and models of health behavior. Stress: theories, measurement and management. Occupational stress. History of psychosomatics and psychosomatic illness. Health behavior. Health promotion theories and models.

Learning outcomes in the course

Upon completing the course the student:
- understands the main models and theories in the field of health psychology;
- understands the main theories of stress. Stress managment – how to reduce, prevent and cope with stress;
- understands the theoretical basis of health promotion.
