Course aims
To give survey of the development and research fields of Developmental Psychology; learn about the main concepts, theories, research methods and applications of Developmental Psychology.
Brief description of the course
History of Developmental Psychology. Research Methods. Introduction to theories of development. Psychoanalytic Theories, Environmental-learning Approaches , Cognitive – Developmental Models, Ethology, The Ecological Approach and Contextualism. Theories of Moral Development. Attachment Theory Lifespan psychology.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- is aware of contemporary and traditional theoretical approaches to developmental psychology;
- is aware of methodologies and their possible application and limitation in develompmental studies;
- is able to formulate and identify basic regularities of development and age-related regularities.
