Course aims
To provide basic knowledge of classical astronomy and problems of modern cosmology in connection with the birth and evolution of the Universe.
Brief description of the course
Celestial coordinates. Calendar and chronology. Movement of the planets and satellites. The Kepler laws. Physical parameters of the Sun, planets and moons. Solar and lunar eclipses. Tides and ebbs. Evolution of stars. Structure of galaxies. Position of the Solar system in the Meta-galaxy. Cosmological hypotheses, Big Bang.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- understands of the Solar System and the Universe from the human race;
- has perceptions of the universe as evolving system;
- has ability to use astrophysics atlas and data tables;
- has ability to search for and analyze information on modern astronomy and astrophysics, and to distinguish the field of modern historical views.
