Course aims
Expand the students’ possibilities of expression on different instruments or vocally. Give an introduce to the principles and possibilities of jazz/pop improvisation.
Brief description of the course
The students explore the chord symbols used in jazz/pop- music, rhythmic, typical vocabulary and blues as the foundation for the contemporary jazz-pop and rock music. An overview of jazz/pop harmony and the alternative programme design basic principles and elementary playing skills will be given.Self-contained independent work means: theory studies, unassisted creation of paraphrastic improvisation lines and their rehearsal for a public performance.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
An understanding of basic principles of jazz/pop programming and practice;- the knowledge of most typical keyboard usage in free jazz/pop programming.
