Course aims
To develop practical and conceptual skills for independent creative activity and the creation of interdisciplinary works through the conscious and creative use of different media, techniques and professional digital tools.
Brief description of the course
The course takes place as an integrated drawing and painting studio and focuses on applying ideas and concepts in artistic work. Students use skills acquired in earlier foundation courses and develop their application in more independent and conceptually aware creative work. The course encourages experimentation with media, techniques, processes and professional digital tools, the shaping of ideas into artistic wholes, conscious media choices and reflection on broader social and cultural contexts.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- experiments with different media, techniques and professional digital tools and uses them purposefully in creative work;
- develops ideas and concepts and shapes them into a coherent artwork in content and form;
- articulates and justifies artistic choices, working methods and aesthetic preferences;
- relates personal work to social and cultural context and takes responsibility for its impact and quality;
- applies previously acquired technical and artistic skills in the creation of interdisciplinary works.
