Course aims

To learn about the problems of contemporary art.

Brief description of the course

To provide an insight into international art life and the dynamism of art from the 1980s to current developments. Another insight is given into Estonian art from the 1990s to the present. The concept of post-modernism in the context of art. Criticism of modernism. Feminism, multi-culturality, the theory of post-colonialism and art practice, critical theory and art practice, the business of analysing art, yBa, simulations, actions in the urban space, body, gender, eco-art and other topics. Photo, video, new media. Art policies. An institutional perspective. Large international exhibitions and their policy.
