Course aims

Form suppositions of understanding modern approaches to teaching mother tongue and skills to put them into practice. Give skills of planning and organizing learning of listening and speaking.

Brief description of the course

The subject of mother tongue didactics, different bases, approaches and principles of teaching mother tongue. The essence and structure of the language, classifying language, integration of language communication skills. Developing language alacrity. (Different) definitions of listening, importance of listening. Hearing impaired child in the classroom. Organizing listening in the classroom. The main components and factors of speaking one should be aware of while compiling the speech. The functions of oral language usage. Connection of teaching listening and speaking to literature.

Learning outcomes in the course

Upon completing the course the student:
- knows different approaches and modern principles of mother tongue teaching;
- understands importance of the role of mother tongue among other subjects and importance of language use based teaching;
- is able to plan and organize listening and speaking proceeding from text, theme and language use situation.
