Course aims
Support students’ preparedness to acquaint themselves with specific features of studying process proceeding from peculiarities of pupils’ age;
Create possibilities of acquiring skills of planning, arranging and managing the teaching process.
Brief description of the course
The concept, essence and circular model of didactics and its connections with other subjects. Approaches to learning, the theoretical bases of the curriculum, the curriculum as a part of didactics. Key and contemporary issues in didactics, descriptive and normative didactics. General/classic principles of didactics. Planning lessons, teaching units/lesson, aims and stages of a lesson. Basic skills of teaching. Methods of teaching or ways of working, the selection and aims of the methods. Integration principle. Teaching based on integrated topics in a basic school (the first stage). Learning through making projects. Assessment.

Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- is able to set objectives and plan the teaching process in accordance with principles of contemporary teaching considering pupils’ peculiarities proceeding from their age, and other factors;
- has a repertoire of justified teaching methods;
- is able to communicate with pupils properly to make the teaching process more efficient;
- is able to analyse the conducted lessons.
