Brief description of the course
The course introduces the principles and practices of academic writing in Italian and develops the skills required to plan, write and revise academic texts. Students analyze the structure, language and argumentative organization of different types of academic texts and develop their ability to formulate and support ideas clearly and coherently. Particular attention is given to summarizing and paraphrasing, the appropriate use and documentation of sources, academic style and register, and the organization and revision of written work. The course also develops the ability to present and discuss a research project in an academic context.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- recognizes and analyzes the main structural, linguistic and argumentative features of academic texts in Italian;
- plans and produces clear, coherent and appropriately structured academic texts in Italian;
- summarizes and paraphrases information from academic sources accurately and integrates it appropriately into their own writing;
- uses and documents sources appropriately, applying relevant academic citation and referencing conventions;
- revises their own academic writing and presents and discusses a research project clearly and appropriately in an academic context.
