Course aims
The objective of the course is to give an overview of creative economy and creative entrepreneurship, and introduce the business models in the creative industries as well as how to integrate creativity in the core business processes of traditional industries.
Brief description of the course
The course gives an overview of basic concepts related to the role of culture and creativity in economy, innovation and its spill-overs to rest of society. Culture and creativity plays increasingly important role in creating jobs and growth, finding innovative solutions to major challenges, developing products and services, creating attractive urban living environment, promoting countries and cities and encouraging tourism etc. The subject gives a comprehensive overview of good practices across Europe and rest of the world in developing creative entrepreneurship models, creative economy strategies, setting up innovative financing models and facilitating access to finance, creating physical and virtual spaces, supporting clustering and networking, capacity building, internationalisation and export initiatives, and effectively managing creative teams and processes.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- is aware of main theoretical and practical approaches, central concepts and most important theories about creative entrepreneurship and creative economy;
- is aware of business opportunities and different business models of creative enterprises in a variety of creative sectors;
- has a comprehensive overview of contribution of culture and creativity in innovation and development of new business models;
- understands the functioning of creative industries ecosystem in Estonia.
