Course aims
The overarching goal is to provide an overview of crossmedia communication and development. The course is interdisciplinary and introductory in concept and implementation concerning what crossmedia communication is and how it can be applied. The main aim is to develop a theoretical framework for understanding how crossmedia production works.
Brief description of the course
The course is a solid overview of crossmedia communication, one that builds from a general introduction to a specific examination of the media and genres of crossmedia to a discussion of the concepts involved in designing and developing crossmedia communication.

The major components of this course are organized in four sections: “Introduction” provides a solid introductory look at crossmedia communication; “Media” covers the variety of media that are typically involved in crossmedia production; “Genres” examines how each genre influence crossmedia design and development decision; and “Critical Thinking” explores important issues to be considered when designing and developing crossmedia communication.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- has knowledge of fundamental theoretical approaches to crossmedia phenomena;
- has ability to understand and analyze on general level crossmedia productions;
- has aware of the main issues and responsabilities inherent in creating crossmedia experiences;
- has insight into recent developments in the field of crossmedia communication.
