Brief description of the course
Objectives and priorities in first aid. Emergency medicine system in Estonia. Recognition of the person in need for first aid. Primary evaluation of the situation and condition of the injured person. Steps of rescue. Myths in first aid. Life-saving first aid: cleaning airways, signs of unconsciousness and stable sideways position ing, life threatening bleeding signs and control of blood loss; resuscitation, defining shock. 112 call. Continuous first aid. First aid in mechanical traumas: wounds and blood loss; injuries in head, thoracic, abdominal, pelvic area; spinal and limb injuries. First aid in case of traumas caused by thermic, chemical and other external conditions. First aid in emergency state
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- has knowledge and skills to administer first-aid in case of emergencies.
