Course aims
To establish the conditions for getting an overview of requirements for school- and sport buildings, for sportswear and footgear, for study process. To give an overview of health monitoring. Role of health monitoring in everyday medical practice and in public health promotion.
Brief description of the course
Hygiene of air, topsoil and water. Health and hygiene requirements for school- and sport buildings. Hygiene requirements of teaching. Day schedule of students.
Hygiene requirements of sportswear and footgear.
Health monitoring – definition, aim and organization. Different types of health monitoring: occupational (mental and physical working capacity), in sport (different sport events), in medicine (diagnose group specific e.g. cardiology, diabetes, neurology etc).
Specific aims of different types of monitoring (outcomes). Correlation of different factors (genetics, environment etc) with health status.
Methods of health monitoring. Equipment of health monitoring. Laboratory service. Definition of reference value.
Interpretation of results of health monitoring. Data management.
Importance of health monitoring in prophylaxis of different disease.
Monitoring of treatment effectiveness in different disease group.
Monitoring of risk factors for different disease. Definition of symptom and syndrome.
Using of health monitoring in everyday practise.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- knows the health and hygiene requirements for air, topsoil and water;
- knows the health and hygiene requirements for school- and sport buildings;
- knows the health and hygiene requirements for study process;
- is able to apply the acquired knowledge of Hygiene to the professional activities of a teacher;
- understands of health monitoring;
- is able to apply the knowledge in everyday practice.
