Course aims
The students will:
Develope an understanding of basic consepts and strategy of healthy and safe community;
Develope basic skills for planning, implementation and evaluation of HP interventions in local settings.

Brief description of the course
Safe Community movement, historical overview and effectiveness. National and international Safe Communities networks. Safe community model. Indicators for safe communities. Best practice. Empowerment. Institutional HP interventions. HP Schools, HP Hospitals, HP Universities etc. Rapid needs assessment. An infrastructure, cross- sectional group that is responsible for safety promotion. Safety Promotion Interventions, esp. injury trend analysis; The frequency and causes of injuries. Long-term, sustainable programs. High-risk groups and environments; Evaluation; Traffic injury prevention: injuries are preventable.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- is able to analyze Safe Community indicators and evidence based best practice;
- can demonstrate an understanding of powerment processe on local level;
- demonstrates skills for development and implement HP interventions.
