Course aims
Create opportunities for formation of theoretical knowledge in social processes in groups and in leading group processes in recreation management context. Create prerequisites to understand group work principles and to acquire methods of group work. To support student's readiness to work and lead groups in the outdoors.
Brief description of the course
An overview of group work principles, types of groups and group work, group functions, group development phases, group dynamics and leading groups. Subjects also focused are: groups in society and social identity, ethical issues and research opportunities and methods of groups/group processes
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- knows characteristics of the group, specificity of group work and principles of group dynamics;
- knows main factors of group processes and recognizes group development phases;
- understands principles and opportunities of group work;
- is able to use main methods of leading group processes;
- can plan appropriate activities and analyze group processes in outdoors;
- is able to analyze one's behavior as group leader.
