Course aims

This course aims to introduce students to quantitative data collection and data analysis methods, particularly as applied in the field of sport, recreation and physical education.

Brief description of the course

The course provides an overview of the nature of qualitative and quantitative methods, different quantitative research methods, research planning, data collection, questionnaires, descriptive statistics, group comparisons, correlation analysis and illustration of results.

Learning outcomes in the course

Upon completing the course the student:
- is able to identify and understand main concepts in the quantitative research process;
- makse distinctions between the differences in quantitative and qualitative research methods;
- is able to read methodology, descriptive statistics and main results from research articles;
- can identify main data collection and data analysis methods in quantitative research;
- can design qualitative research studies.
