Course aims
-Realisation the importance of (digital)media as one developmental environment in child’s comprehensive development, readiness to implement the content of media and ICT means consciously in developing children’s media awareness and supporting comprehensive development of children, practical skills in conducting media education in a kindergarten.
Brief description of the course
-Media mechanisms, impact means. Legislation. Possible impact of media – dangers and opportunities. New literacy and media-consciousness. Cross-media and participatory culture. Didactic basic principles of media education and pre-school educational establishments and national curriculum. Means of media and its content and areas of learning and educational activities. Value education and media. Secure use of ICT, age-specific online-etiquette. The role and possibilities of an adult as a leader and tutor of media-use, cooperation between pre-school and home, peer culture.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
-The student:
*Is conscious of the importance of (digital)media as one part of educational environment in pre-school child’s comprehensive development: finds solutions to possible problems arising from media, has readiness to councel parents in general media-related educational issues;
*Knows integration opportunities between media education and other areas of the National Curriculum for pre-school educational establishments;
*Knows how to use different content of media in age-specific and comprehensive development;
*Knows ICT-based active learning principles and methology and knows how to integrate them into learning activities
