Course aims
Develop an overview of using outdoor activities in the work with children at different ages. To support acquiring the skills of teaching outdoor physical exercise, planning and conducting outdoor activities and events.
Brief description of the course
Teaching methodology of different ways of physical activities and exercise (running, jumping, throwing drills and climbing outdoors; cycling, roller-skating; simplified variants of sports games, etc.)
Teaching methodology of winter sports (skiing, sledging, skating). Outdoor games (off-road games, adventure games, games in snow and on ice, etc.)
Using hiking, adventure activities, orientating and etc. in the work with children. Organising campings.
Outdoor education: integrating physical activities with different subject areas.
Ensuring the safety of moving outdoors. Defining and planning the physical load of children at different ages in outdoor activities. Planning and giving feedback on outdoor activities and events. Cooperation with parents.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
After the course the student:
- has knowledge about possibilities of outdoor activities, teaching techniques of different outdoor exercises, planning and organising outdoor activities;
- can teach outdoor physical exercise and games;
- can plan outdoor activities and can analyse his/her performance in teaching physical exercise and conducting outdoor activities/ events.
