Course aims
To link the knowledge of didactics to everyday routine in kindergarten.
To get the overview of PE teacher’s work in kindergarten.
To get practical skills in order to form supporting learning and educational environment for child’s development.
To get practical skills for evaluation of child’s development, spotting individual peculiarities and special needs.
Brief description of the course
Documentation of learning and educational activities in kindergarten (development plan, curriculum, action plan for a year, group’s action plan for a year, a week plan), the legislative framework (the law for pre-school educational establishments, the national curriculum for pre-school educational establishments, Health protection requirements for health promotion and catering in pre-school educational establishment and school) and its practical implementation in kindergarten (focus on physical and health education).
Teaching in kindergarten, basics of carrying out physical and health education, planning and application physical and health education (curriculum, year and week plans).
Cooperation between parents and kindergarten staff.
Evaluation of child’s development (incl special needs) and informing parents about it (performance reviews and their arrangement). Work with children having special needs (incl physical education).
Practical activity:
- Observation and analysis of teacher’s work (group, music, PE teacher, etc), observing, analysing and supervising the games of children at different ages.
- Helping the teacher of PE in carrying out physical activities
- Planning together physical activities and games for children and carrying them out indoors and outdoors
- Self-analysis and evaluation during the practice
- Analysis of the observed physical activities, children’s games, learning and educational environment.

Upon completing the course the student:

- Can analyse and critically evaluate the level of his/her theoretical knowledge and practical skills
- Has the overview of PE teacher’s work
