Course aims
To develop students’ skill of understanding the role and meaning of play in a child's development and analyse play environments and the role of adults in the play.
Brief description of the course
Essence of play and its importance in the development of children. Classical and modern theories of play. Play, learning and work in childhood. Development of play in an infant, pre-school and school age. The play environment and principles for the selection of play materials. Games and play in pre-school education curricula. Supervision of childrens play at home, in preschool and at school.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
The student :
-knows theoretical basis of play and the meaning of play in child development;
-can guide children’s play and create a play environment;
-can critically analyse the National Curriculum for Preschool Establishments from the aspect of play
