Course aims
The goal of the subject is too offer to the students an overview of terms and notions of calculus, which are useful for those who choose to teach mathematics at the different school levels.
Brief description of the course
Teaching functions at the different school levels. The concept of a function. Least squares approximation. Limit of a function and of a sequence. Derivative of a function. Mean value theorems in differential calculus. Indefinite integral and definite integral, their properties and applications. Functions of several variables. Partial derivatives and differentiability of a function of several variables. The tangent plane of a surface. Extrema of functions. Some differential equations as mathematical models. Attending lectures is a prerequisite of the learning process.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- knows main notions of the subjekt and is familiar with the main methods and their applications;
- is able to solve the standard exercises.
