Course aims
Provide basic knowledge of set theory, logic and graph theory. Introduce the methods used in these areas, give an overview of the applications of the theory.
Brief description of the course
Sets, set operations. Relations. Logical operations. Propositional calculus. Predicates. Formal languages.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- knows operations on sets, their basic properties and relations, is able to determine their type and apply them to solve real life problems;
- knows the basic laws of propositional and predicate calculus; can write substantive statements as formulas inpredicate calculus and negate them.
