Course aims
To provide basic knowledge in general topology and surface topology. Core course from the bachelor level mathematics programme.
Brief description of the course
Metric spaces, equivalence of metrics. The notion of a topological space, examples. Comparison of topologies. Continuous maps. Factor-space and product-space. Compactness and connectedness. Invariance of the group of topological mappings. Surface topology. Eulers theorem about convex polyhedrons.
