Course aims
Link previous teaching experience and acquired knowledge with school reality.
To enable the student to develop as a subject teacher and class leader.
To support students' ability to communicate with the school family as a teacher and the development of a complete professional role image.
To support the student in planning professional development.
Brief description of the course
Practice takes place at the high school level. During the internship, the student gets to know the school organization, listens and observes, and then gives the necessary number of specialized lessons in the school as an intern-teacher. The student fulfills all the responsibilities of the subject teacher and class teacher. Plans at least one subject-related event. Prepares observation-listening and lesson notes. During the internship, the student fills out a development folder, which he submits to the head methodologist at least two weeks after the end of the internship. Internship is generally carried out in Tallinn, but with prior agreement it is also allowed elsewhere in Estonia.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- is capable of taking into consideration the following goals of education, when planning out the teaching- and upbringing process in cooperation with their supervisor; national curriculum and school curriculum, creating connections between various subjects and thematic areas;
- uses precise subject-based knowledge, vocabulary and methods, when carrying out the teaching- and upbringing process. The study materials should be age-appropriate and adaptable to the specifications /individualities of a student;
- analysesthe teaching- and upbringing process in cooperation with their supervisors and, their own work according to the priorly planned goals and base documents;
- therefore is able to plan their further actions and, when composing the internship development folder, will take into consideration the content regarding requirements and the form requirements.
