Course aims
To provide a survey of the basic statistics of classical thermodynamics.
To support the understanding of the role of the principle of thermodynamics II synergistically worldview;
Develop understanding of the fundamental importance of statistical thermodynamics topical physics problems;
Encourage the development of skills in statistical thermodynamics methods to implement specific physical problems.
Brief description of the course
The second law of thermodynamics. Statistical sum and fluctuations. Fermi Dirac statistics. Bose Einstein distribution law. Classical statistics. Classical perfect gas. State equation. Heat capacities. Paramagnetism and ferromagnetism. Maxwell Boltzmann statistics. Chemical potential. Plancks radiation law. Debye theory. BoseEinstein condensate. Perfect Fermi Dirac gas at low temperature. Superconductivity and superfluidity.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
Ability to apply knowledge of thermodynamics, statistical analysis of the simple physics problems;
Capacities for the important universal principle of thermodynamics II, the role of science and other fields;
Understanding of the limits of applicability of statistical thermodynamics;
Basic knowledge of modern statistical physics and perception.
