Course aims
To support the development of the deepened understanding of the phenomena and principles of geometrical and physical optics;
To enable the acquisition of principal knowledge and understanding of optics via practical activities;
To support the development of the skills of conducting optical experiments, documenting and analysing the experiment results.
Brief description of the course
Laboratory work in optics: Exploring the refraction and reflection of light. Exploring the principles of the spread of light in lenses and their systems. Conducting experiments in order to explore and apply the phenomena of polarisation, diffraction and dispersion.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
Can apply the laws of geometrical and physical optics while describing and analysing experiment results;
Can conduct experiments in optics, choose appropriate equipment for the experiments, and adjust the equipment;
Can carry out statistical analysis of data, depict the data on a graph and apply the graphs while comparing the experiment data and conclusions deducted from theory.
