Course aims
To give a comprehensive overview about the history of Systems Biology. To introduce different branches of Systems Biology. To create an understanding of modern Systems Biology, its methods and future.
Brief description of the course
Comprehensive overview about the history of Systems Biology and the historical methods. Introduction into different branches of Systems Biology, overview of modern Systems Biology, its methods and future. Introduction to genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics and metabolomics.

How to understand, integrate and interpert data from different levels of organization. Modelling and discovery of emergent properties, properties of cells, tissues and organisms functioning as a system. Mapping of interaction networks to build holistic models of various biological systems.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- has an overview about the history of Systems Biology;
- is familiar with main branches of Systems Biology and has an understanding of the major methods;
- knows how to use statical methods of Systems Biology;
- can find relevant biological datasets from major databases;
- can work with datasets from major biological databases and integrate datasets with published data:
- can present Systems Biology study findings both orally and in writing.
