Course aims

To create prerequisites for acquiring Spanish pronunciation and developing listening comprehension skills;
To create prerequisites for acquiring basic knowledge of grammar;
To create prerequisites for acquiring basic vocabulary;
To support the development of communication skills.

Brief description of the course

The course is designed to target the students who have no knowledge of Spanish.
Emphasis on the acquisition of grammar rules and everyday vocabulary which would enable communication in everyday situations;
Overview of Spanish pronunciation;
Acquisition of basic thematic vocabulary, conversations on daily topics;

Learning outcomes in the course

Upon completing the course the student:
- can get an idea of the content of simpler informational material. Can recognise familiar words and very basic phrases;
- can complete forms related to personal information and dates;
- can produce simple phrases about people, places and everyday situations;
- can follow speech which is slow, carefully articulated and on familiar matters;
- can ask and answer simple questions in areas of immediate need;
- can understand instructions addressed carefully and slowly to him/her and ask instructions;
- can understand and use basic grammar rules (included, can use the Spanish present tense and conjugate verbs);
- can reflect upon his/her A1 level reading experiences;
- can reflect on his/her language learning;
- can pass an exam on A1 level.
