Course aims
To develop prerequisites for the acquisition of oral and written language skills in Italian at B1 level (Threshold) according to ELP (the European Language Portfolio). The course is designed to target the students whose command of Italian equals to A2 level (Waystage) according to ELP.
Brief description of the course
Grammar: in-depth knowledge about phonetics, capital letter, usage of definite, indefinite and partitive article, degrees of comparison, impersonal verbs and irregular verbs, adverbs, different types of clauses, linking pronouns, reported questions.
Speaking skills: conveying one’s experiences and feelings, describing events, speaking about a film or a book; expansion of vocabulary on such themes as holidays, animals and hobbies.
Writing skills: compiling medium-length (300 words) descriptive and argumentative texts.
The pre-requisite for the registration is A2 level in Italian.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- has ability to exploit the acquired forms in oral and written texts;
- has ability to recognise and form grammar structures, understand everyday speech, read descriptive and more complex literal texts;
