Course aims
- Create prerequisites to develop freely creative and technical skills of expression, develop the capability to use them.
- Give opportunity to develop creativity using drawing as an opportunity and as a tool. Develop visual and manual capabilities, observational skills, and realization of ideas.

Brief description of the course
The course will cover different drawing tools, drawing principles: composition of a picture, proportions, constructions; simple still-lifes, exhibiting the works.
Students will learn to use technical possibilities of different drawing- and painting mediums; how to depict different materials, textures, structures; fundamentals of form and dimensionality; effects of light and shadow; basics of perspective; depicting a human. In painting, students will learn to work with both opaque paints and watercolors, as well as mix-media.

Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- mixes colors and knows the interactive influence of colors;
- fits the work in chosen format;
- knows compositions;
- can see proportions and depict them on the picture;
- uses line as a tool for a surface, light-dark, light-shadow, contrast.
