Course aims

The students will acquire general knowledge of design and the capability to utilize these. At the end of the course the student will be capable of dealing with the following subjects: the aim of design, the application of knowledge about design in everyday practice, etc.

Brief description of the course

A brief survey of the history of design; aims; product semiotics; the form reflecting the concept; the process of design and its results; ergonomics; analysis of target groups; possibilities of cooperation of disciplines in different design solutions; the value of brand, etc.

Learning outcomes in the course

Upon completing the course the student:
General knowledge of design and skills to implement these;
Skills to discuss design issues;
Skills to prepare personalized presentations and to present one's Learning outcomes long-term project.
