Course aims

The aim is to acquire a historic and style-focused overview of the development of fashion and the creation of the most outstanding fashion designers of the 20th century, learning to see clothing as a reflector of the spirit of the period and an exponent of social sign systems.

Brief description of the course

An historic and style-focused overview of the development of fashion and the creation of the most outstanding fashion designers of the 20th century. Costume as a reflector of the spirit of the period - social sign systems.

Learning outcomes in the course

Upon completing the course the student:
- has ability to orientate in different ages´ style trends, connecting the persons´ imago pictures with the society`s social order and with development of the visual and applied arts´ history;
- has skills to find the inspiration sources from the past;
- has ability to use the achieved knowledge in own creativity work, using the influence from different times in the development of one`s own creative freedom.
