Course aims
To use personal experience and practical tasks to provide students with knowledge about therapeutic applications of drama, psychodrama and narrative theatre, main methods and techniques.
Brief description of the course
The development of therapeutic theatre and its forms of expression. The role of three action methods: narrative theatre; psychodrama and drama therapy in the history of theatre. Free improvisation and improvisation based on one’s own story. Spontaneity and creativity as an opportunity of being human and developing. Psychodrama and social drama. Time: Space; Reality; Eternity. Four dimensions and four tools. The concept of role in the theatre, community, psychodrama and drama therapy. Narrative in drama therapy, sociodrama, narrative theatre and psychodrama. Listening to a narrative and mirroring back. Theatrical sketch and its variations. Narrative theatre.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
Experience and basic knowledge of different forms of drama, their effects and therapeutic applications;
Ability to use role swapping therapeutically;
Knowledge about group processes and participation in joint activity.
